My niece was born half an hour ago at 4:19 Central time. She appears to be healthy. Congratulations!

I missed out on the congratulations -- so I guess I'll combine these two messages. First off, Congrats on the healthy and happy arrival of your new niece. I'm thrilled for ya and hope you spoil her rotten (After all, that's what Aunties are supposed to do, right? *winks, grins*) Secondly, Hope you have a fantastically wonderful special day, sweetie! Here's a birthday hug for you:

Thanks. My sister is supposed to bring Alana here today to celebrate, but they haven't arrived yet. She's a week old today.

WOW! Alana's a week old already! What a great birthday present for Auntie StoryGirl to be able to get to see her!
Looks like in the future you two can celebrate your birthdays together a lot!
Happy, happy birthday, StoryGirl! Hope it's a fantastic one and hope this year is a wonderful one, too, combined with all of the stuff you like best!

Yep. It is great to see her, though right now I think she's asleep. She slept (and cried) on my shoulder and in my arms for over an hour while my sister was trying to find something to give me as a gift . . . we are such procrastinators. Usually I am better at it than everyone else, but not so far this year.
The bow is gone . . . thank goodness. That thing weirded me out. I think it might have been the hospitals quick way to tell if a baby was a girl or boy or something like that.
She apparently doesn't like socks. The first thing she did when she woke up and I picked her up was kick them off. Took a bit, but she's only a week old.
Thank you all for the birthday wishes.

It's funny how few babies like socks--they always seem to be kicking them off! But I'm SO glad that they decided to untape that bow from her forehead...that's not nice at all, especially when she had hair they could put a bow in! Now if she was bald... But VERY glad you had a nice birthday!

Yep, she's doing good. My sister and niece are here today for father's day . . . very cute pic of my dad with Alana (my niece in case I hadn't mentioned her name here).
And my sister is doing good, too. She has to take medicine . . . again not sure if I mentioned that there were complications on this site of not, but she is doing good.
