I have this idea to do a rewrite of Centenial Charmed that is completely AU . . . it works. Problem is as was pointed out with Aurora's Centenial Charmed rewrite, it's kind of personal gain. I figured out what event I want Cole to change, and it's three of four episodes back from what he originally picked, as in pre Paige. I'm keeping the idea that Paige tired to vanquish Cole and got splashed into the bay and thus was having those amazing orbing hickups. In fact when you begin to read it, it will start out sounding the same. The only difference until Cole's "wish" is made will be in his conversation with the avatar the wish he mentions will be different. At least I think that will be the only difference. Once he changes things Paige will be in the middle of an orb hickup and thus carried along, except she's not dead. She's alive and she picks up the life of her counterpart in the new reality but with no memories of the time between the wish and the present.
I made a pros and con list to make it not perfect and have it make sense in the story line why the various things exist. For example one of the cons is that the source hasn't been vanquished. One of the pros is that Cole and Phoebe really are together and not hating each other like in the original. I put Cole is mortal in both pros and cons list.
For Cole it is a no brainer. He has Phoebe and they are still both married and in love. Cole is mortal, but that also means he doesn't have to deal with his demonic self and I made him actually useful, so he's okay with that. He was begining to hate all those powers anyway.
Paige on the other hand is less sure. There are a lot of things about it she loves. The Source being alive freaks her out and he won't be making the same mistake from Charmed, so vanquishing him would be difficult. Shax was still defeated, so no big deal there. The Seer is alive and I don't think Paige's sisters know about her, so still a tricky threat. Then, there is the fact that events have made it so that although both Piper and Phoebe have met her, they don't really know her and they certainly don't know she's there sisters . . . see they never lost the power of three because Cole's actions inadvertedly saved Prue's life. Also Paige doesn't have any witch powers, only whitelighter ones.
Since Centenial Charmed's alternate time line ended with Cole's death, it didn't deal with how long they had to kill him, I don't think. I mean eventually someone's going to kill him, but if it was one hundred years from now, does that mean everything suddenly ceases to exist? So I decided they had 24 hours to have one of two things happen, either Cole wished that everything was the way it was originally (since it appeared he could do that) or Cole is killed (being a mortal that should be a whole lot easier.) If neither happened then everything stayed in this altered state forever.
So the question is . . . how do I make it not personal gain when Cole gets Phoebe and Prue's still alive? Do I make something about it so bad that maybe they want to change things, if so what? Can someone give me some ideas on how to make this less like pure personal gain, so that keeping things as altered has some sort of consequence reflecting the personal gain in the wish? I mean the fact that Cole is / was a demon shouldn't effect that should it? Demons are often using powers for personal gain.
