INDEX CARD
TITLE: Valhalley of the Dolls
AUTHOR: Esmeralda
TYPE (one-shot, chapters, part of a series): Part Two of "NO GREATER LOVE..."
RATING: (K, T, M, MA): T for Charmed-type violence and language
LEAD CHARACTERS: Leo, Chris, Piper, Paige, Phoebe, Darryl
ORIGINAL CHARACTERS: Rori
SHORT SUMMARY: Phoebe tells her version of the search for a missing Leo, explaining what they and (thanks to Rori's diary) Chris Perry had to do so they could free him, as well as how they finally rescued Piper from Valhalla.
The next day, when Chris tried to put me and Paige on demon patrol again, I finally had it and told him to lighten up, and sending us after demons all the time was getting to be a drag, and Paige agreed that he was working us like dogs. Chris reminded us that Piper didn't complain, and I pointed out that Piper didn't complain anymore--not about anything since Leo left, that she was always so chipper.
Chris didn't see anything wrong with that. But Paige insisted that it wasn’t natural and more important, it was not Piper. Just then Piper came blissfully bounding down the stairs, holding Wyatt in one arm and talking on the phone in the other. She was perkily making a play-date on the phone with other moms and their kids.
Paige and I insisted that she was getting worse, which irritated Chris. So I sighed and asked if he already had a vanquishing spell for the latest demon he had us after, and he handed it to me. He gave us last-minute instructions and orbed out, just as Piper returned without Wyatt.
Nephew mine, she actually asked us, "Alrighty, are we ready?" Alrighty?! But before either of us could respond, she told me how much she loved my new hairdo--that it was to die for! When she tried to touch it, I shoved her hand away--she was way too chipper.
I handed Paige the spell then started to concentrate. Piper, obviously looking forward to this, smiled at Paige, who scowled in response.
Just then, our latest demon, the two-headed Trok Demon, materialized, surprised to have been yanked from wherever he was. I yelled at Piper to freeze him, so Piper gestured but accidentally blew up one of the demon's heads! The other head screamed, horrified.
I was just as horrified. In the last few years, Piper never missed. But when I asked her why she did that, she actually giggled, saying she thought it was funny.
Before we could react to this, the demon sent a concussive wave at us, sending us flying backwards into furniture. I scrambled to the spell and chanted it, and the demon exploded -- the whole demon. I quickly turned back to my sisters, wanting to know if they were OK. Piper actually thought that that had been great fun, while Paige nearly exploded, wanting her to speak for herself, since she had a shoulder wound. Then Piper told us that she had to go tell Chris that we had succeeded, hopped to her feet and breezed up the stairs, ever cheerful. Paige and I could only watch, dumbfounded.
