Nor am I -- much of a poker player, that is.
Like you, Honey, my close friends and family can basically read me like a book -- especially if I'm worried, hurting, or angry / upset. Then again, I am a softie and do tend to wear my heart on my sleeve too. But those times that I'd really not prefer to show the world how I'm feeling, I inadvertently do it anyway via my eyes (which can be a real pain and is one of the rare times when I wish they didn't change colors).
*shrugs* Oh well. I can't really change that, now can I?

I still contend that those tiny brown lines in my eyes do not make my eyes hazel. They are almost nonexistant. Interesting genetics of eyes, Jediya. I've learned a lot more about eye colors through playing the sims 2 (yeah, I know a game and so much more simplified). My sister and I have a hair color story there that just cracks us up. Emery Wilson (one of my sims) had black hair coming from his black haired mother. His father had brown hair from his father, with recesive blonde from his mom. Hadie Moore (my sister's sim) had black hair from her dad, with recesive red from her mom. So they were both black haired. Then, their first kid shows up. He's blond! And his younger sister is a red head. So far these two black haired sims have two kids with recesive hair colors. It was bizarre.

So do your eyes just change colour with emotion? Or do they change dependant on the colour clothing you decide to wear. For instance, currently, my eyes have decided to be pale green today to match the green-khaki-ish t shirt i'm wearing at the moment. Gotta love recessive genes *grins* I've got dark/sandy blonde (I believe americans refer to it as 'dirty' blonde? Correct me if I'm wrong) hair, which is the same hair colour as my mum - whereas my dad started with light brown/blondish hair as a kid but it gradually got darker as he aged (which is similarly happening to my brothe but his is still lighter.) Where my hair gets interesting is, that it naturally has light blonde and red highlights. Depending on the time of year and weather, depends on which highlights are gonna be more prominant. In summer (or sunny days), my hair goes lighter and the light blonde highlights become more prominant...whereas in Winter (or particularly cold/dull days) my hair goes darker and redder due to the red highlights coming out. My biology teacher found me very fascinating...I think he would've put me up for 'study' if he could have. lol Apparently I'm one of those ones down the genetic line that gets all the fun and unsual genes...I've got quite a few Celtic traits. Like the changable eyes...or the fact my hair grows at an alarming rate (thick hair that grows very quickly is a Highlander trait....so going back to those Scots ), reddish hair is also typically Celtic. It's amazing how many recessive genes are supposedly Celtic really. There's also my skin, I'm naturally pale Irish complexion type - and you'd think I'd be like the rest of my family (particularly my mum) who burn really quickly in the sun and have to wear high factor sun cream. But...nope...I very rarely burn and can be out in the sun a lot longer than other people. I tan very very easily and quickly, but that tan just as quickly fades. Evidently, I get my reddish highlights from both sides of the family (one greatgrandmother on each side was part Scottish and both had red hair.) I also get my ambidexterity from my mum's dad's mother...it's fun to see genes skip generations lol Just put it down to me being weird.....and geez I've prattled on enough....what is it about genetics that's gets me going....ok, not just genetics, other sciences as well and linguistics and various other stuff. Oh i know! Cause I'm a geek

But geeks are cool! As for the eye-color changes, mine are mostly emotion-based, although I've noticed that they tend to be a little more on the blueish side when I'm wearing blue. If I'm wearing green, that color becomes slightly more prevalent -- but not too much. And you're right about the hair color -- it is commonly referred to as a "dirty" blonde over here across the pond. Like your dad, the blondes in my family also went darker as they got older -- the only exception being my dad, who went gray instead of going dark. Yours truely has what is referred to as "strawberry" blonde (and it also grows quickly), which is, as the name implies, more of a reddish blonde. If I'm out in the sun (especially during the spring and summer months), it will lighten up, but not nearly to the extent that yours does, Jeds. And I don't get a different color streak in the winter, either. Honestly, I can't blame your bio teacher for wanting to put you up for study, as that is one fascinating genetic mix that you've inherited. And by getting all the "fun" genes, that makes you truely unique even within your own family. Lucky you rarely burning and tanning easily! Man, is "Miss I sunburn and can quickly turn the color of a cooked lobster" envious of that. Fell asleep on the beach in Florida once with only a #8 sunscreen (stupid move on my part -- I need at least a 30 or 45) and spent most of Spring Break itching, peeling, and constantly putting on lotion and aloe. Trust me, I never made that mistake again! My skin will sometimes turn tan after burning, but usually I can't be that lucky -- it'll burn, then peel, and that'll be it. But your prattle has inspired me, as one of these days I'm going to get my adoption records opened just so I can dig further into my background to see where exactly some of these traits have come from and find out a bit more about the "family I've never met". We're just an interesting bunch around here, hmmm?

Thanks kernsux! I love your name -- it's so fitting. *grins* Bethann, the cute little moving smiley guys are in two places: > The first one is in a box to the right of the Quick Reply box. > The second place is to the left of the box that you type in in the regular reply area. If you click the "view all smilies", you can see all of 'em and just click on the one you want to put it in. There's no limit to the number of ones that you can put in a message. They really do make things alot of fun, so enjoy!
